Building Together

Marsie Geldert-Murphey is a builder.  As a civil engineer, she has spent over 30 years building bridges and roads in the midwest.  With a career dedicated to building infrastructure, she knows firsthand how investing in our roads, bridges, and public works drives economic development and creates good jobs across our district. As a self-made entrepreneur, she’s familiar with the impact that public policy has on businesses and the jobs they provide.  And as a political newcomer, she brings fresh ideas and practical solutions for our region’s issues that put people and progress at the center of everything she does. Marsie is committed to ensuring every community benefits from smart, inclusive growth, so that together, we build a future where opportunity reaches everyone in downstate Illinois.

Campaign Issues

Opportunity

District 56 has a proud history of creating jobs that make it possible for families to thrive close to home. We need leadership that understands how to continue building on that foundation, expanding opportunity for all and ensuring the next generation can stay, succeed, and contribute to the future of our communities. I’ve had the chance to be part of building the infrastructure in most of the communities in the District, and I want others to have those same opportunities, opportunities that spark growth in industries like clean energy, manufacturing, and logistics. These improvements don't just move goods, they move people forward.

Education

Our communities thrive when our kids thrive.  Supporting and investing in public education is one of the most powerful ways we can build a community where everyone has the chance to succeed. I’m committed to expanding access to high-quality early care and education, and fully funding school nutrition programs,  because children thrive when they are nourished and ready to learn.  Advocating for the kids and families of this district will help us build a safer, healthier, and more connected communities.

Healthcare

Across this beautiful district people are weighed down by healthcare needs and access to care. Too many can't find the care they need or pay for it. Medicaid cuts are limiting where and when care can be delivered, if at all. I will fight for robust funding and essential reforms that protect access to care and ensure no one is left behind. Healthier families build stronger communities, where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity and thrive.
